That is what I have, a most interesting dilemma. I bought a modem and router so I wouldn’t have to keep renting them from my provider. Before I even took them out of the bag the store had put them in, I learned I bought the wrong ones. So, I went to return them.
I thought I had the receipt, but it turned out to be something else. Customer Service could not find the receipt … or any record at all of the purchase. They looked at purchases for the day I “bought” it, they looked at all the charges on my store credit card, and couldn’t find it. I checked my bank card and it wasn’t there, either.
So, I now have about $200’s worth of modem and router – brand new, the boxes haven’t even been opened – that I apparently did not pay for. The store won’t take the back because there is no indication that I ever bought it. It’s a national chain and those don’t handle deviations from their patterns very well, so I’m afraid that if I just gave the modem and router to them and left, they wouldn’t know how to handle it and I’d just have caused them a lot of aggravation.
So, what do I do?
