I Hate Mosquitos

Sep 2, 2018 | Grammar and Writing Tips

I love walking outside on a warm – not hot, but warm –  summer evening, listening to the crickets. But I cannot stand getting bug bites. I hate biting insects, but mostly mosquitos. I believe everything that is alive, has a right to be alive. Except mosquitos. They have no right to be here. They don’t even have a purpose. I know they’re part of the food chain, but the frogs can eat other insects, they don’t need mosquitos.

And I love going to outdoor movies they show in the summer. I’ve been very lucky this year. I’ve been to a few of them, sat on my blanket on the grass, and I haven’t gotten bitten.

Then I was in REI yesterday and I saw the Mosquitoband you see top left. Now, as I said, I have not been bitten this summer. But when I saw these bands, I suddenly knew that I would if I didn’t buy them. So, I bought them. They’re only $5.  I’ll test them out next week at an outdoor movie I’m going to. You may say it won’t prove anything if I don’t get bitten because I didn’t get bitten when I wasn’t wearing it. But I know in my heart that if I don’t get bitten, it will be because of the band.
