"Who’s in Your Orbit?" by Mike Muhney & Max J. Pucher

Nov 18, 2015 | Books

This is a book review as well as a business post. It talks about VIPorbit, a new contact management program developed by Mike Muhney and Max J. Pucher. Contact relationship software (CRM) is a type of database that helps salespeople – and others – keep track of whom they called when, what was said, what’s the next step, etc.  ACT! was the first of its kind and was developed by Mr. Muhney and another partner, Pat Sullivan. The two men developed it out of need: There wasn’t a database out there that did what they needed it to do. And a software genre was born. Oracle and Salesforce are two other popular brands you may be familiar with.

Not only does software grown and evolve, but ACT! was missing some key features. So, Messers. Muhney and Pulcher recently came out with VIPorbit, now rebranded as Vipor.

We all have orbits in our life.  Friends, family, co-workers, people you went to school with, people you know from this or that organization, softball buddies, etc. Any phone book or CRM system will let you put people into categories, or groups. But orbits often overlap. A former classmate may now be a co-worker and/or a friend. That’s what Vipor is built to handle. This book walks you through the basics of using the software.

Mike is a friend of mine, so when I found my life screaming for this kind of management database, he sent me this book. I use the software now, but I’m not going to go on too much about it. Check it out yourself.  Right now, it’s free to download and use. Some new updates are in the pipeline that will have a free and a paid version. It has some really cool features I can’t tell you about until it is released. If you’re looking for CRM software, check out the book first. It may help you make your decision.
